Worship celebration

Home / Worship celebration

Starting on 10/31/2021, we will resume having our Sunday worship celebrations in our sanctuary. In order to ensure the safety of our members and guests, we have developed protocols which are modeled after proven safety measures.

Protocols for worship in our sanctuary

Masks
Masks, worn properly, are required for vaccinated and unvaccinated persons. Epidemiologists are recommending medical masks instead of cloth masks. Medical masks will be available at the church.

RSVP for worship service
RSVPs will be required so that we can plan accordingly. Chairs will be grouped by RSVP response, with extra seating for “guests”.

Singing, call and response

The worship sheet is emailed weekly for those on Facebook Live or who prefer not to use the view screen in the sanctuary.

Holy Communion
Please bring your own communion elements for you and your family during the service. Individual portions of communion elements will be available for anyone who forgets theirs.

Fellowship time
For the time-being we will not be serving coffee, hosting fellowship time, or lingering in the narthex or parlor gathering areas. On good weather days, we will have fellowship on the Franklin Street lawn. Please bring your own water, coffee, tea (travel cups with lids please).

Children’s message and area for families with very young children
We will offer a socially distanced children’s message. There will not be nursery or Worship Wings (a Sunday School-like session for children during part of the service) for the time-being but we will have activity folders/bags for the kids to use during worship, personalized for regular participants and extras for visitors.

As before the pandemic, our “Pray-Space” for families with very young children will be available. However, families will need to bring toys for their children so that we are not passing germs via the sharing of toys.

Social distancing
We will not be shaking hands or hugging. The best greeting is a big smile behind your mask and a Namaste posture or a hand-heart gesture.

Chairs in the sanctuary will be positioned in “pods” based on the RSVPs received for each week’s service.

Health concerns
If you are not feeling well, for your safety, and for everyone else, please do not attend in person but join the Facebook Live stream or watch the video later in the week on our Facebook page.

Attending our service online
We will be streaming each weekly service via Facebook Live. The link for each week’s service will be sent to members and guests in an email several days ahead of each service.

You do not need to have a Facebook account to watch the Facebook Live stream.

If you would like to receive the Facebook Live link for each week’s service, please email us at office@williamstreetumc.org.
